Happy Sunday, Cougar Families! Here are some things to note about this coming week as well as some general reminders.

1. Thursday of this week is the deadline for all students entering the Legion Remembrance Day Art and Literacy contests. All pieces must be submitted to the office by Thursday

2. Thursday is also the deadline for photo orders envelops to be returned to Harvey Studio on your behalf. Orders not received this week will be subject to a surcharge.

3. Students are invited to wear black, orange and purple on October 31st, which is Tuesday. We do not wear costumes at school.  Many will be excited for treats they collected during festivities from the weekend or on Tuesday evening.  We ask for your support in monitoring how much candy your child is bringing to school; moderation is key.

4.  All K-8 students have outdoor recess daily at CCS, which requires appropriate outdoor wear for all students. Starting this week, it looks like we should all be prepared for toques, mitts, coats and splash pants as a part of our daily wear. A change of clothes in the bookbag or in a bag to leave in the locker is a good idea for all students. Whether or not boots are worn, all students are expected to change from whatever they arrive with on feet into indoor shoes.  Thank you for your support.

5. There is no school for students on Friday, November 3rd, which is a scheduled professional learning day for staff.

6. MS Girls open gym for basketball is Monday and Wednesday 7:00 – 8:30.  MS Boys open gym for basketball is Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 – 8:30. MS badminton club (girls and boys) will be Tuesday from 2:30 – 3:30.

7. Some parents have been asking about start dates for other grades of basketball. Those teams and gym times are coordinated by the Northern Carleton Minor Basketball Association (NCMBA) who will communicate directly with families who registered for those programs. Please watch your email from them and their Facebook page for updates.

8. CCS will again this year be supporting the PJ drive in memory of Emma P. The campaign will begin in November, which starts later this week!

9. Please continue to monitor your email, agendas and notices from teachers about class and team field trips. Please return permission slips in a timely fashion. There are a few outings scheduled this week.

10. Thanks to families who sent in student fee payments last week. Additional field trips and special activities through the school year become available to students as those monies are collected. Student fees can be brought to the office. Also, many thanks for all the support with our poinsettia fundraiser! We successfully sold our quota (and a few more!). This provides us with funding that will allow us to plan for the bigger year-end team events that many have come to expect and look forward to. We will notify you of poinsettia pick-up date once it is confirmed by Jolly Farmer so that they can be picked up and delivered to students’ customers without delay.

Wishing everyone a great week!
