Happy Saturday, Cougar Families! Here are important items to note about this coming week at CCS:

1. March 25 – 29 is a 3-day school week for K-8 students in our district. There is no school for CCS students on Monday as it is a scheduled Report Card preparation day for teachers/PL day for staff. (There is school for Grades 9-12 students so you will see buses on Monday; don’t let that throw you off!) CCS students have school this week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is Good Friday so there is no school. There is no school on Easter Monday, April 1st.

2. There will be free lunch on Wednesday as usual. Our amazing volunteers will be serving pancakes and ham.  (No grilled cheese this week.)

3. Tuesday, Chris Curwin from “Astonomy by the Bay” will be at CCS to discuss upcoming solar eclipse. Astronomy by the Bay – YouTube Many thanks to Mrs. Debertin for coordinating this opportunity as well as being a part of the preparations for the Solar Eclipse event across our communities. Part of the education with students has and will continue to be the importance of eye safety during this important April 8th event.  Many thanks to an incredible donation by the Western Valley Service Commission, we will be distributing one pair of personal solar viewing glasses to each CCS student.  We have been ensuring their safe keeping before distribution and it will continue to be very important that students transport these safely home and they are stored in a safe place until their use for the eclipse. A simple scratch on a lens can compromise the safety of the glasses, so we are asking that you work with us to reinforce the message with your Cougars about how grateful we are to have received these important tools, and how important it is for their own eye safety that we all take care of them until the event.

4. Rocks to Rings curling in Phys Ed classes has been rescheduled to this Thursday, (due to the storm day this past week). Partners For Youth will also be rescheduled. Date TBA.

5. There are no volleyball practices or games scheduled for this week.  Please note that the date that CCS will host girls’ league play in our gym has been moved to April 9th.

6. Open gym basketball for Carleton North feeder school boys in Grades 5, 6 and 7 is Tuesday from 7:00 – 8:30.ย

Have a wonderful going-to-feel-like-mid-winter-again weekend. Stay safe!
